It’s Another Day in Paradise…

Or is it Brigadoon…

Sandy and I went to the movies last night at the old theatre in downtown Palo Alto…

We saw Brigadoon. If you don’t know the film (Heather and Pat skip ahead) it’s the 1954 movie with Gene Kelly, Van Johnson and Cyd Charise… “about two Americans on a hunting trip in Scotland who become lost. They encounter a small village, not on the map, called Brigadoon, in which people harbor a mysterious secret, and behave as if they were still living two hundred years in the past.” Amazingly I’ve never seen it before, so to see it on the big screen was a lot of fun. Before and after the movie an organ rises out of the stage in front of the curtains, with a man playing songs from the movie.
And of course, there’s messages in everything… a quote from the movie… “Anything is possible when you love someone… Even miracles…”

Today we went for a 4-mile walk on the paved trails in the hills above the Stanford campus….

They call the area “The Dish” because the trail goes by a radiotelescope dish used by the university for research. It’s a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful place in this mass of humanity… green grass rolling hills and old twisted oak trees.

After walking we had lunch at a deli and went back to the hotel and laid around by the pool in the warm sunshine… making the best of this “California Vacation.”  We will be holding on to the memories of these days next week….

Good night,
Dan

Hey you two! Good evening. Susan T called me this eve and we had a heartfelt sharing about the gift you continue to be to all of us - marvelling at your strength and courage, your focus and clarity of purpose, the love you two share, the hope and strength to stand tall with you as you continue this journey. You need to know how you continue to touch so many so deeply. You inspire us in such a huge way by your example. Missing you. Looking forward to having you return home. Sending loving and healing thoughts your way. Good night Sandy and DanO. ~Patty

Hi Sandy and Dan….following your progress from home…you’re on my “favorites” list .. along with Map Quest and Social Security Online!….I’m getting so tech savvy! The real message is that I love you, support you with thoughts and prayers, and want the best outcome possible for you and yours. You are brave and such an inspiration. I just sweated out my last week’s mammogram (which was ok), was reading the paper in the warm afternoon sun only to have the phone ring with news that the recent mole biopsy was basil cell type so I go in for a little nip and tuck the end of the month. The irony is sitting in the sun and getting the skin cancer call…And all that is nothing but what you’re dealing with is magnified thousands of times over….so at least emphathy to go along with that love and support. You mentioned Cameron…I’ve not kept good track of your Cameron…U of Hawaii or did he graduate or go on to something else? Isn’t that a picture of Cameron with the stocking cap on? My Cameron, now 36, finally has a girl friend..we are all thrilled. In his little two-seater convertible, he now must decide whether it’s the girlfriend or golf clubs that fit into the front seat. So your Cameron has lots of wiggle room! Special thoughts for precision carving and cutting on Monday. Don’t let them touch that only Sandy area of caring compassion-great passion but let them get all the unwanted stuff out of there. My love and support, Mary Lou

How funny that you were able to talk your way out of being evicted from the park on May 6. We’re still chuckling over that. For a grreeat movie, check out “Akeelah and the Bee” (P.B., thank you)! We’re all thinking and praying for you two. Love, Alex and Jo
