“How Can I Be Depressed in these Pajamas?”
Posted by: Dan @ 3:15 pm

Sometimes you just need the right pajamas… and they arrived in the mail today.

Sandy had a rough night and was still feeling sad during a morning of tears. We’re on an emotional rollercoaster and just hanging on sometimes.

And then a package arrived from some good friends back home in Washington… pajamas for Sandy. But not just any pajamas. Garden Gnome pajamas! Perfect timing. How can you be depressed in pajamas like these?  Thanks Nancy and Henry! Sandy loves them… and so does the Gnome, of course.

After relaxing out in the sunshine, we’re heading out to our favorite Chinese restaurant here - incredible food - we haven’t been there yet on this trip.

Good afternoon and night,
Dan

Dearies, Thank you for keeping us updated. I must say when I saw the Labyrinth, my breath caught (or was it Sandy’s PJs?). Anyway, the Labyrinth pix swept me away to the sacred Isle of Iona, in Scotland 3 weeks ago. Pat and I, our niece and my sister were on a hike to the bay where St Columba landed in 532 AD. We collected beautiful stones from the bay and brought some home (some for you, the St Columba’s tears). The legend is if rocks are taken away, rocks have to be placed back somewhere on the Isle. As we left, we saw a circular path/design on the gently sloping hillside - a stone labyrinth. We walked the labyrinth, praying for healing of those in need. You, Sandy, were in our prayers (as always). We left stones in the labyrinth to replace the ones we took away. It was a special time of prayer. Interesting how this small world is interconnected. Blessings to you for strength and love, love, love, love, love. - Heather

Sandy, you look absolutely beautiful in your new gnome jammies. With your figure, how could you not? Me, my arse would look 6 axe handles wide, as my darling brother would say. Love, Shirl

Hi Sandy and Dan - well, the “jamalitos” (as our 2 year old niece calls them) are clearly top shelf. Maybe dan should try them on too? Just a thought for a change… a photo of that would be a winner for sure….. :) We send out thoughts, prayers and good vibes your way every day. Your attitude continues to inspire us but more importantly we think it is the key to your amazing strength and ability to deal with anything. Wow! We were up at the barn last weekend and thought of you and the fun we had constructing it. There was an incredible sunset that you can see if you go to Dan’s work email. It is soothing….. Hope you have a great weekend. You always seem to find the perfect place to go to and then make make it even better by finding the best in everything. Love ya D2

Hi Dan and Sandy, As usual you two are making the best of difficult circumtances. I think that the cool jammies are doing the trick. I wonder if they have studied the use of proper sleepwear with relation to outcomes? You may suggest it to your neurosurgeon. I just want you both to know that our household is sending you as much positive energy as we can. We know you can do it. Good Luck, Nancy B.
  13. Hank and Ruth Says:
Hi Sandy and Dan — You have taken us to a new level of Computer Land. First time we’ve ever “blogged.” It was so great sharing time with you in your habitat garden. We think of you every day when we feed the birds. You better not wear those pajamas when you get home - you’ll scare them!! Bright, but very, very cute. Love and a hug to both of you… Hank & Ruth
  14. CarolAnn, Shaun and Claire Says:
Gnomes ROCK! Thank you for sharing yourselves and your little buddy. I showed a picture of him to our yard gnomes and they think they know him. . . Our blessings to you both and please know you are a gift to us all. Love ya -C
  15. Tina Rieman Says:
Hi Dan and Sandy: Just heard that you were back down in Palo Alto. I guess under the circumstances it’s a good place to be. And “styling p.j.s” are looking good. But oh dear! It seems we so recently saw you starting up Icicle Ridge trail looking so energetic. It’s hard to understand that you got “taken out” so fast, Sandy. It’s wonderful to have your Blog diary to read and to feel in a small way we are sharing the process with you. Every detail seems important. If it helps to know there will be two more folks spinning the prayer wheel for you on Monday, know that Dick and I will be doing that. And Dan, the Habitat Newsletter just got put to bed. I felt priviledged to be asked by Karen Strom to fill in for you. Thinking of you both and sending lots of love. Tina and Dick

Hi Sandy, I wanted you to know that we had a teacher inservice this afternoon and the group divided up into three teams. The K-4 teachers met in the “Starbucks” room that you and Dan decorated. Everyone else was jealous that the K-4 team got the good room. Thanks you two for making a great place for us to meet. We are thinking of you. All our love and prayers.
  17. Robin G. Says:
Hi Sandy, The “starbucks” room was great! Kim, Janet and I grabbed the couch first. It was a very comfortable meeting. Several of us noticed the candy bowls in the middle of the tables were empty! We needed chocolate! But most of all, we missed you in that room with us. I especially loved having a meeting in a room with sun - nice and warm. I think about both of you all the time and hope you know how much your missed and how much you both are teaching so many people. I’ve been learning from Sandy since the moment I met her years ago. But these past few years she has taught me so much more that I will keep with me forever. Thanks! Actually my family should be thanking you - they have no idea how awful I’d be had I not been inspired by you:) Have some fun this weekend! Love, Robin G

Hey S&D, Hoping you are having only good days and great days; like that Mr. Armstrong guy says. But don’t forget that those good and great days can still have room for tears and fears and hugs and nesting and here’s heaps of love comin’ at ‘cha. Be good to yourselves - sending thoughts of gentle breezes, colorful flowers, secret places, quiet spaces, time out, time in. G’day and a good night and good morning. May you be soothed as you wake by the dawn chorus. Ta, pk
