Mountain Time…

The best remedy to hospital time…

What a difference a couple weeks can make. Two weeks ago today Sandy was having surgery to remove a brain tumor. Today, in the company of several good friends, Sandy and I hiked up the 4th of July trail a couple miles. It is one of the beautiful mountain trails near our home. The sun was warming us and a cool breeze made the temperature just right. As we hiked slowly up and up through the beautiful forest and slopes of wildflowers, our spirits soared. Especially when contrasted with the recent past. There is nothing like a hike in a place such as this to rejuvenate the soul. And to see Sandy - hiking stick in hand for stability- walking slowly but steadily up this mountain trail, instilled me with a strong belief and hope - even more than any I have felt lately. She was so elated to be out on the trail again - savoring every moment of it - and to share it with such good friends was pure joy…

Our thanks to Heather for recruiting all the sherpas, and Pat, Mark, Kelly, Vickie, Brent, Tristan, Hannah, Tessa(Jawea), Clover, Odie, Jango and the Gnome for a great hike in the mountains.

And also thanks to our many friends who have visited us in the three days since we’ve been home. Seeing all of you has been very energizing and healing for Sandy and I. Remember, the Garden of Friendship is always open.

Good night,
Dan

Hey Sandy and Dan - Howdy from Michigan. Yep I am on travel and Deb is in Portland. These photos look great! Sandy looks great and we could not agree with you more that a hike in the mountains does more for the soul than any medicine on the planet. Glad you are getting in the groove again and making the best of everything on the home turf. As always, we are thinking of you everyday and sending our good thoughts and prayers your way. Love always, D2

What a wonderful lift you have given all of us who are with you on this journey. The pictures tell it all, more than any words can possibly describe. Your friends look like a fabulous bunch, but what can we expect from two young people who have always been strong and loyal friends to so many others throughout the years. You are reaping what you’ve sown in your Garden of Friendship. Mom in Waldport with hugs.
